Retread Myths Debunked

Did you know that it takes about 22 gallons of oil to manufacture one new truck tire? Or that commercial and industrial tires make up 15 to 20% of the tires discarded every year?

There’s little room left in U.S. landfills for these large objects, and the price of oil continues to rise without an end in sight, but using retreaded tires can help.

This video from the Tire Retread and Repair Information Bureau (below) shows how, providing an enlightening overview of the impact that using retreaded tires can have on our environment. (Recycled tires also can be used to make boat bumpers, backyard swings, and rubberized asphalt for playgrounds.)

If you’re a commercial driver or fleet manager, you already know the importance of durability and cost-effectiveness in replacement tires. With a 30 to 50% reduction in the cost per tire, retreads keep more money in your pocket.
